What fan sensor do I need?

What fan sensor do I need?
I have an 87 TA with a carb motor. The computer has been completely removed and I am currently turning the fan on and off manually with a switch I have tied to a relay. I need to know what sensor I need to buy that will send a signal to the relay to turn on when it reaches a certain temp. I know there are complete kits out there but I only need the sensor. I don't see the point of paying extra money for wire and a relay when I have all those things already.

Now the ones from autozone will send out a ground when a certain temp is reached? Sorry for the stupid questions. I just want to make sure when I buy the part its correct. The ones you sent the link for will work directly without any type of ECM right?

Will this one work? I can get this one through amazon and have it in 2 days. Autozone is over a week out.

First, What is the Thermostat Temp your running? Second, then decide in which temp you want your fan to come on at? Third, then install correct rated switch.. that switch is rated to come on at 238 degrees I beleive.. http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...post1581878458

I'm not sure what my thermostat is set at. It was in the intake manifold from a previous car. The guy that had owned the engine before me stated that he had a setup that turned the fan on at 200 and off at 185. I never found that sensor when i pulled the engine 5 years ago. So I would assume that the thermostat is setup for that. That's the range I'd like my fan to come on at

Yup, that AC/Delco switch is the correct one for your car.
Yup, all it does is ground the wire, which operates the relay, which sends battery to the fan motor; no interface whatsoever with the ECM.
You don't want your fan to come on that low. It'll NEVER turn off.
Put the correct thermostat in your car at the same time. (195°)

Here's the part numbers and fan"on"temperatures.
Part # TFS8 = 204 on
# TFS4 = 213 on
# TFS1 = 224 on
You should be able to have these part numbers cross referenced if necessary.
You can still use the stock 195* thermostat with these switches.
There are switches available from Jet Performance = # 60600 at 195* on and 185* off.
also
Hypertec = # 4028 at 200* on and 185* off.
I would use a 180* thermostat with either of them.
I use a fan switch set to "on" at 180* (its adjustable) and a 180* thermostat . The car stays in the 180* to 190* temperature and is what I prefer over the "very high" stock temperatures.
