other juckyard fans than taurus?
Is there any other good fans that u can get from the junk yard that are good. I'm finding it hard to find older Taurus fans at the junk yards in my area. I think most of them are picked over or have been crushed. There must be some other junked cars that have a great OEM fan that will work good in my third gen??

If you have to search the yards on your own without the help of an interchange manual, go to Rock Auto's web site. Search for a cooling fan for whatever year Taurus you want a fan from.
When you open the cooling fan window, pick a manufacturer and click on the part number link. It'll open another window showing what other models and years that fan is installed on. At least this way you might be able to widen your search.

INtrepid fan is another popular swap. Alittle larger then the taurus IIRC.

I second the 4th Gen fans. Very good units and are, with very little modification, plug and play.

So the 4th gen twins are better then the 2nd gen twins? More efficient electrically (draw less current)? More efficient at moving air? Quieter? Thinner? Lighter?

The fourth gen fans, trim the bottom slightly, take of the ears if I recall when I did mine, and it literally drops in. the shroud keeps it from striking the radiator. Use a modified single fan top to hold it in place. The top shroud bolts in to the factory position and the weight./pressure of it holds it in place.
the lT1 fans are very similar but do not have a solid shroud. common thinking is the holes in the LT1 fans make it not cool as well...which is why they changed when they went LS. The fans themselves are identical.
