hypertech 4028 availability

My fan switch on my 92z has went out.
I've already installed a 180 thermostat, so after searching this site I see the Hypertech 4028 is what a lot of people have recommended. So I was going to go with this.

But I'm finding this part has been discontinued, and I can't find anyone who has it.

Is there an alternative I could use?

My main goal, get the fan working again. Then as a bonus, hopefully have it come on sooner and help the car run a little cooler.

still haven't found an adequate fan switch. You might have to call up your local Napa to see if they have them.

Old post but you might be able to search the p/n, if you have tpi the memcal can be reprogrammed to lower on and off temp settings.

Thanks!

One question, when I look this up on Autozone there is a disclaimer 'does not fit'
I'm guessing because it's a different heat range, and not because it's wired differently or requires some kind of mod to work?

Is that correct? It's plug/play

Jet still makes temp switches at different on and off too.

The SW555 is the Buick turbo and I believe the TTA fan switch. That is how it cross references. I have one on my bench at home I have to install.

Thank You.
Do you happen to know if it plugs into the stock wire, or is there a different pigtail that needs to be purchased. Been searching the forum, and not quite sure if it requires one or not.

Re: hypertech 4028 availability

Not sure what factory connection looks like as mine is MIA. This is the NAPA equivalent to what they put in the turbo Buick. Go to the link and it has a better description.

Yes it works with the factory connector. Physically it is the same as the factory switch just lower temp for the Turbo Trans Am and buick GNX

I believe it crosses to

Re: hypertech 4028 availability

I've spent hours trying to find a replacement for my fan switch. It was 190/180 or there about. It may have been a Hypertech (I'd have to check my notes). I crossed referenced the SMP catalog with every known manufacturer listed but could only come up with rating in the 200+ range.
I eventually installed a Dakota Digital electronic fan controller. Works with my temp gauge sender, is fully programmable for set points, single or dual fans and a few other features.
Works very well. I have it set to have the fan on at 185 and off at 175 to work with the 160 stat.
