My '87 formula 350 has been running a bit warm recently, always staying 210-220 on the gauge. It's only hit 220 twice, and quickly recovered, but I'm still worried about it running too hot. It's also the middle of July so outside temps are 85-95, which doesn't help at all. Regardless, Looking under the front of my car, things don't look right. Does anyone know if I'm missing the air dam, or other components? I also have an aftermarket Ebay intake that the previous owner installed, see here: (NOT MY CAR, but I have the same intake.)
The issue I have with this intake is that looking where the filter is, how is it getting anything but hot engine bay air??? It's just sitting behind the passenger headlight and from what I can tell there's no way for cool air to get to it.
Regardless, here's my air dam situation:
Something obviously looks missing below, and I'm unsure about the portion up top, if it's just not bolted in, or if something else is missing. Anyone have any suggestions (Intake or Air Dam) I've looked around, and found an intake on Hawks, but it says camaro and I'm not sure it would fit. Not seeing much else on ebay or other sites.
You're missing the front half of the air baffle (55) that bolts to the underside of the nose and to the other half that is still on the car (56).... and your air dam is garbage.
