Hi all, I have an aftermarket overflow tank that does not have a vented cap on it. I was wondering if that would make the car run a little hotter since the pressure cant get out. The engine is brand new so that might be a factor also I think. Just trying to get the temp down a bit. Made my own radiator support panel.

No.
Your new engine is the unknown.
There are many ways to reduce temp.
(You didn't mention a temp number, or when the problem occurs such as or driving slow, or setting speed records on the highway.)
Therefore this info is generic.
Use a 160° stat.
Check the airdam.
Use a controller or fan switch to come on at a lower temp than stock.
On one of my cars I installed a 10 gallon water tank with pump in the T-Top compartment, and I routed a hose with a nozzle, and I can spray water to the front of the radiator.
It doesn't take much.
I use a 10 G/P/H nozzle but only need a minute every so often in stop-an-go traffic in the hottest month of the year with the A/C on.
On the highway I don't need it.
I love seeing the gage on the left side of the dial.
Its gets up to about 210 and most of the driving is around town but occasionally on the highway. Airdam is good. I do have two electric 12 inch fans that come on at 170. Do you know if the airdam on a sport coupe and a Z28 the same? The new engine has only about 300 miles on it also would it run cooler after it has some more miles on it?
Thanks
