Cooplant temp sensor

I have a streetrod that's has a complete 1989 camaro 5.7 drivetrain and wiring harness . My question is the coolant temp sensor on the passenger side below exhaust , is this for radiator fan control ? Does it control anything with the ecm ?

Re: Cooplant temp sensor

If your referring to the sensor in the block down low on passenger side that’s the knock sensor. Secondary fan switch is in the head on passenger side between cylinder 6&8.
the ecm does control the primary fan by using the coolant temperature sensor in the front of the intake. The drivers side sensor is for a gauge.
