Car: 1991 Trans Am GTA
A/C Condenser

I purchased a brand-new A/C condenser for my 1991 Trans Am GTA a few years ago and left it sitting in the garage. The car is now currently in the shop for an engine swap. The engine swap is being finalized, but turns out the high-side port for that A/C condenser is wrong. The shop tried 3 other A/C condensers from different sources and they were all the same as the one I purchased.

I don't know what's up with that. If you've changed your A/C condenser recently and all of the fittings on it were correct, where did you purchase it from? As of right now, the current plan is to try and weld on the correct fitting which may prove to be difficult since the material is really thin.

Re: A/C Condenser

If I recall, the 91-92 cars had different fittings at the condenser end........as well as the 82-84? cars. The condenser wil lfit physically, but the fittings won;t match.

i think they only make 85-90 condensers.although they are listed as 82-92

You can swap parts from the 85-90cars in.,....Im guessing its the line that goes from the evaporator to the condenser, right?

I kinda figured the condenser for the '91 - '92 cars were changed for some odd reason. Yes, I'm pretty sure it is the evap line going to the condenser.

This is what I put in my 91 last March. Everything was a good fit.

I don't think any of those are the one I used. It looks like they changed brands. I don't know for sure. I can't find any of my previous orders.

Re: A/C Condenser

So I ordered a OSC 3231 condenser off of Rock auto. It came in with angles welded to the top of each corner that don't show up in pictures. Anyone else run into this? Going to try it tonight. 10 days away from a big show, no time to reorder another.

Re: A/C Condenser

Mine was the same way. I filed the sharp edges so it didn't cut into the rubber mounts.

Are these fittings supposed to spin freely or the hard lines from evap and compresser?
