Coolant temp sender and fan sensor

I’m sure there is a thread for this somewhere but I couldn’t find it. I’ve done an engine swap and admittedly screwed up by not taking pictures of the connectors that go to them and honestly at this point I’m not sure if I even bought the right sensors. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sensor is which and what they look like? And maybe even what the connector that plugs into them looks like. I have an 87 formula and I’m pretty sure it’s a single fan if that makes a difference. I know the sensors go in each cylinder head I’m just not sure what they are.

Re: Coolant temp sender and fan sensor

Temp gauge sending unit goes in the driver's side head, and a new one most likely has a ¼" slide terminal although it might have the old "button" or "mushroom" like the original did. The wire should be dk grn.

Fan switch goes in the pass side head and has a single-pin Weatherpak. Wire is dk grn w/ wht stripe.

Visit any parts vendor's site, look em up, and look at the pics. It'll be pretty obvious.

Is this the “mushroom” connector? Sorry if I’m asking stupid questions, I’ve just been really thrown off by this one lol

You’re correct that’s the temperature head switch . Wells sw555 works well or summit has spade options just search 1/4 npt temp switch for lower on offs. The correct location is between 6 & 8 cylinders passenger side head.

if your referring to the gauge sender it’s a green wire spade of nail head on drivers side head between 1 & 3 cylinders.

okay so I finally found the solid green spade for the gauge sender. But I can not for the life of me, find a green with white stripe anywhere. I’ve looked all over this harness lol.

I don’t think it’s green/white stripe there is a blue wire with a connector that will fit the fan temp switch ? That should be for the knock sensor. The other that looks like same connection is fan temp switch.

well to tell you the truth I don’t really know what connector I’m looking for. I found one that I felt like had to be it but it wasn’t the right color so I just moved on. Is it a connector like this one? Because that looks like it would be able to plug into that weird looking blue sensor
