Superchips / Z Industries chip questions...
I just picked up a 01227730 ECM (used)and when I opened it up, there is an aftermarket chip installed. I am wondering if I should sell it, or try using it. There is a Z Industries Z-1 chip mounted to a Superchips unit.... I know the set-up that was in the car that I got this from and it is close to mine, but I am running a 5 speed and the other car was auto, my car is a 355 ci. , and the other was a 383.I have the Super-ram off of the car, now on mine. I have deleted my VATS and EGR in the chip in my car currently, but I have no idea of what is done with this new chip combo. Could there be a way to "read" this set-up before I try it in my car? I do not have any of the chip burning stuff, so that is an issue. Thanks all....
When I first started out on the EFI path, I had Ron Zimmer tune my car on a Chassis dyno & all he did was WOT tuning to it. the drivability sucks & the VE tables are all WAY off, it surges when it is cold. I was discusted with the entire thing. I spend a boat load of Do-Ho on this thing & it ran worse than it did with my Victor Jr & Holley carb. This is when I got into Promming. I suppose you could fire it up & see what it runs like. My bet is that it runs like crud.
my2c, dich the chip & do your own.
