Throttle body and IAC questions

Force EFI link

Ok, if anyone has a moment to browse the above link, at the top there is a 1000 CFM throttle body. Is that black thing on the right side the idle air control motor or something?

What does it do? My best guess is that it can open and close a little bit, possibly like a needle valve to let a bit more or less flow through the throttle body at the computers control.

Now I wonder what I have to build to use an IAC in my own throttle body? Maybe a passage from before the throttle plates to after the plates with this little device blocking the passage somehow. I guess I should just buy one (the IAC, not the $525 1000 cfm throttle body...)
