Hi all, I'm looking into the FAST DFI setup. My questions are:
1. where can I get the complete bank to bank setup with ECU, harness, WB o2, software, ECU to PC cable etc.. at the lowest price and how much $$ am I looking at?
2. how much more power should my combo make with the whole fast setup over a very well tuned PROM (BLM's at 128) 730 ECM?
I cant remember where on the boards I saw it, but I think it said $1,400.00 for the whole kit.
Is that right?
PLease let me know!
THanks,
Mike (1bad91Z)

Run a 730 and set it up with a WB for what the engine likes best, and the same with the aftermarket, and you have the same tune.
The aftermarkets claim to be intuitively easy to figure out and offer better eye candy. Add some data logging to a stocker, and I fail to see the difference.

To Grumpy -
Man, I wish you were in the Houston Area!! I can do little stuff in the PROM, but I'm still not all that fluent at all at interpreting data from the scanner and even though the car has pretty decent power, I know the motor has plenty left in it. I finally installed the new heated o2 sensor (92 astro van vin-Z). I should have some good Diacom data soon to go on. BTW, I still have no idea where the BLM's are (no scan since heated o2 yet) and I have no converter (I did the six-speed swap way before I put the new motor in). Are you by chance interested in helping me make a good .bin when I have some (Diacom Plus) data? You can e-mail or PM me if you want and let me know.
Also, anyone know price info on the FAST setup?
Again, thanks for any help!

$1400 is probably without the wideband option. You're probably looking at more like $2000. Sometimes you can find FAST systems on ebay for around $1500 with WB O2 and sequential option. If you already have all the stuff to mess around with the stock computer, you might as well just keep messing with it.
At first I was gonna buy a fast system, but after some thinking, I had a feeling I would never use the full potential of it. I bought a Holley commander instead. It works really well and was only $800 for everything.

Once you get to data logging some info., things will get easier, there is alot to learn, so just take it slow, take good notes, and try to analyse what the engine is telling you.

Mike,
I think I found the problem with my PPII. I think the power pack is toast, tonight I will verify that. I'll page you.

Thanks Grumpy
It's just that I've seen the Ccom software for Windows and it looks ALOT easier than this PROM junk in Tunercat. I'm having a hard time with it. With Ccom, you can tune the FAST system while you are driving the car. And, the FAST setup DOES have more tuneability and is more forgiving and self correcting than the stock ECM with a custom PROM.
Neil - any luck at the radio shack? give me a buzz and let me know!
