Scanning / Datalogging

What all can be scanned/datalogged with available software on a 92 (L98) TPI car?

What all do I need to scan/datalog?

On a SD TPI setup there are a lot of items available through the ALDL port. A sampling is RPM, MPH, engine run time, coolant and plenum temperature, TCC info, EGR info, airflow, O2 reading, commanded AFR, etc.

If you have a laptop Moates has a free scan/dat alog software at: http://moates.net/gmecm/software.html

Look for the ECM852.ZIP download. You will need a cable to connect between the laptop & ALDL port.

Some commercial scan tools only allow scanning, no logging capability. Once that have logging include Ease and Diacom (that is not a recommendation for any commercial scan tool).

Thanks for the help. I just have a couple of questions;

Where can I buy the interface cable?

Are the parts available and are they hard to make?

Check the link above (moates) there are several interface cable designs there. Parts are easy to get. Also lists some places to purchase cables.

See this link for additional information:

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml

Lists scan tools, data loggers, cable info, prom info & equipment. . .
