ECM pics please!

hey guys,

Just lookin for some pics of a stock ECM preferably in an 89 RS. I've never actually done anything with the ECM before so if you could also show the location and possibly removal instructions I'd GREATLY appreciate it.

Thanks!

From a recent post, there is a picture that "should" be close to yours.

Here is mine. A view from the floor pan.

A question about removal: After I disco the battery and then unplug it, how does it come out from there?
Attached Thumbnails ECM pics please!-c-documents-settings-mike

First you get a really big hammer, a torch, lots of gasoline...
just kidding.
It should just slide out of the plastic holder shown there. There might be little tabs sticking up to retain it in place but a slight push should get it out.

So you are saying that it should slide down and out of the white plastic bracket it sits in?

Looks like it's the Velcro'd mount. try this: push the bottom of the ECM away from the plastic mount, if you hear Velcro letting go and the ECM moves about an inch or so, then pull it straight down and out.

If the ECM doesn't want to move then check the two sides where it contacts the mount. They may be 2 or 4 nuts holding it in place. Loosen those and try the above again.

RBob.

Thank you sir.

I'll be referencing this on Saturday unless something with the family happens (it always does).

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but this is really giving me problems. it feels like the ECM is giving me more resistance than just velcro. Its not completely in its case. In fact, I can move it around, and even down some, but it wont fall out. It looks just like Cadillac's, but heres a couple pics anyway.

Sorry for the bad pics, best i could do.
