Who is using a scanner that actually works?

I've tried the Actron 9145 with the obd1 cable, no workie. I did see someone on the boards that had the same experience, then switched over the the auto-xray, either the 4000 or the 5000 and had posted that it worked out fine. Any info would be helpful. Gary

I was wondering if anybody had any luck with that scanner.I was considering buying it, but ended up purchasing a used OTC 2000 which works well.I read some with the Auto Xray had some problems too.

I've been using the old autoxray scanner since 2000, without a problem, been used on v6's and sd and maf thirdgens and tbi cars, never a problem, except not enough info on the data logger.

I took the 9145 back to autozone. They said they could order the autoxray 5000, 514.00. I seen it online for about 315.00. Still not sure if it will work.
Not sure what I'm going to do yet. Thanks for the input.

I wouldn't spend $500 on a new scanner, I don't think it's worth it. I got mine on ebay for $75. With that $500, you could get a used laptop and a aldl cable and use a free ware program like winaldl or moates.

Go on ebay and find a used one.

the problem you had with the actron is the cp9415 is not for older cars. it is for 96 present. the actron cp9150 is for 95 and earlier and 96 later.i found it for 249 wth all the adapters for basically all domestic cars, on e bay.
