Can the ECM survive under the hood?
I have a TPI system from a Corvette. I would like to install it on my 1983 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. I would prefer not to cut a hole in my firewall because this will be a temporary install. (A few years)
Eventually, I'd like to install an LS1 based engine. Since the computer for the new engine is mounted under the hood, I will be left with a useless hole in the firewall.

Use a 1227727 ECM. It is a weather resistent underhood ECM. Used in many FWD cars along with the '90 & '91 Corvettes. Can run the $8D TPI speed density code in it.

Thanks for the reply, but the system I have is a MAF system from an '89.
Is water the only issue or is the under hood heat a problem?
Maybe I could seal the housing with some RTV?
