Accel DFI Gen 7 popular ignition setups?

This winter I'm converting my carbed car over to an Accel Pro Ram/Gen 7 setup.

Currently the car has an MSD 85551 distributor, MSD Digital 6 ignition, and an MSD 8252 HVC coil. I'm planning to get an Accel dual sync distributor for running sequential, but should/could I reuse the Digital 6 and MSD coil? I was never sold on needing ignition boxes and external coils etc, but after having issues with several DUI HEI distributors I went this route.

Just for reference, this engine is a 406 with a mid 230s @ .050 hydro roller, 200cc heads and went 11.50s with the carb.

I'm not sure on the accel stuff, but my Big Stuff 3 system is able to use stock setups or the ignition box like you're talking about and I use. It either just hooks a harness to the stock dist. or gets a crank and cam signal that a dual sync dist. can give, and just outputs to the points input on the ignition box.

I was running MSD 6A and HVC coil, but you'll find that you'll get more HP (proven to myself on the dyno) if you run the Accel 6 Ignition and the matching coil with the Dual Sync distributor.

With Accel you can run all your original ignition, if you wish, but you won't get the benefits of the all-digital signal and sequential fueling if you don't use their equipment.

Let me know if you have other Gen 7 questions as I just finished the EMIC course and have been tuning Accel Gen 6/7 systems for the last 8 yrs.

I had a full MSD setup with my carb. I also switched to the Accel dual sync distributer from the MSD. And I switched to the ACCEL 300+ ignition box and coil too. Was it necessary? maybe. The place I bought my DFI setup from recommended it. I'm glad I switched though. The box is smaller, which helps because I have to mount the 2 other boxes for the DFI. Also I found the coil was easier to mount too.

Thanks for the input guys.

I ended up going with the Accel DFI coil and Jacobs FC3000 box. Got it all from an Accel dealer as thats what they use. Hope to start on it soon!
