I am in the market for a tunable efi system but am not sure which is best for me

any preferences
pros and cons of different systems?
can they all use a knock sensor to retard timing?
which has best nitrous control?

Since you said "tunable", I would suggest the Accel Gen 7 system or Accel "Thruster" system. If you want ULTIMATE tunability with NO compromises, get the Gen 7 with the pro key and their wide-band O2 sensor. Show me another system with as many parameters you can change, and with REAL HUMAN tech support that'll answer your emails/phone calls.
----------
Forgot to mention - Accel Gen 7 - 3 stages of nitrous, each with different parameters (you can run a dry system as well and let the injectors take over the load, or you can run double injectors with some only used during nitrous feeds). Has a knock sensor (I'm using it myself) and you can adjust the knock rules; i.e. how many "knocks" pull how many degrees timing, and for how long, meaning you can QUICKLY ramp knock protection on, but yet pull it off very quickly as well.

Again, as someone who has been trained on several systems, I chose Accel for my own vehicle.

if i get a gen 7 w/prokey what else is needed to to use knock sensor and nitrous? is there a cheaper way to go to sequintial inj. then a dual sync dist.

For the Gen 7 system, if you're going to get the knock sensor, and you're going to run nitrous, I would suggest that you get their wide-band O2 sensor for sure. If you want to run sequential fuel injection, you need some form of trigger. It can be a dual-sync dist. or it can be flying magnets, or crank-triggered. You don't NEED to run sequential, though. Batch will do just about as well (within 10%). But I'd recommend not going cheap as you'll regret it in the long run. If its temporary until you can afford it, then fine.

They have a harness you might want to get for nitrous as well. How many stages are you thinking of running? And what RPM are you going to turn? Super/turbo-charged?

BTW, give my bud a call, let him know that Jay Manley from Fargo, ND sent you, and he can probably set you up with a complete system cheaper than the mail order houses.

2 stages supercharged
dart little m block w/ billet 4 bolt caps(all)
mahle -20cc pistons
callies crank w bbc snout
jesel beltdrive
world heads 60.5cc ported(between 1205 and 1206) 1.94&1.5severe duty valves
paxton sn 2000 super charger
(plan to upgrade to afr heads and a pro charger w/cooler 15-20psi)
also have a professionally ported accel long tube intake manifold and throttle body
i will use wbo2 for sure.
is there seperate parts i have to buy to use knock control and nitrous?
how much did you get your system 4 and with what options or accessories?
i currently have a bunch of prom burning and logging stuff but i think an aftermarket ecm will be easier to use and better over all.

fargo huh I'm from st.cloud mn but i lived in grand forks(so flat it feels like the north pole in the winter)and theif river falls but its to depressing in the winter)fargo is fun though thats usually where we would go or winnepeg.

So most important first - I actually grew up in Grand Forks, but moved to Fargo back in 91. So you're not too far away. I race my Mustang out at Interstate Dragways right near Fargo here. Do you drag as well? Or building it just for fun?

Forgot to mention, if you're running an MSD 6 (or 6A or similar), you'll want to swap it for the Accel DFI 6A and matching coil as they are digital and more accurate for timing. I picked up 15 hp with that one change!

#77175 is the knock kit complete.
#77697 is the multi-stage nitrous harness.
#75606 is the 6A system
#75607 is the matching coil
#77602 is the Wideband kit with the good NTK sensor (most accurate)
#77101 is the harness for the dual-sync distributor

Now, for fueling, I did NOT go with the Accel stuff, I went better (read more expensive) with MagnaFuel pump and pressure regulator. The Accel press regulator always leaked on me.

My system is the Gen 7 with 1350 cfm throttle body, Wideband kit, Knock kit, Dual Sync distributor, 40 lb injectors (I tried 48's, but found that my idle was terrible, so if you need 48's, let me know!). I did not use their electric fan harness, rather, I used their trigger wire to run my own relays to turn the fans on (spliced into the wire). Not sure what my system cost, as I had to spend a bit extra to plumb in the injectors into a manifold that didn't normally have them, etc. But I did get a fair price.

Ya, lots of my buds use prom burning, etc. but every time they see my setup, they're jealous as I can get better, faster, more accurate data logging than them and I can tune much faster than them. I'm serious that I think Accel is the best. If there is a way to send a private msg here, or if you want to get me your email or such, we'll swap emails and can then get your phone # and I can call you sometime to discusss more in-depth.

Jay
