free tuner software
Is there anything else out there besides tunerpro or winaldl? I have the necessary cable to connect to my laptop, I just want to know what everyone else is using and how good the programs are before I start downloading them and trying to make them work.
Opinions/knowledge please?

Lots of us use TunerPro RT for both editing & logging. I'm pretty sure you won't find a more useful tool for $30.
Winaldl is a limited but useful logging tool.

OK. well you should have the part # and four letter code from your ECM (sticker on top).
It never hurts to look at the chip to see if someone might have changed it.
One of the best sources for .bin files is Moates filemanager site.

That's the best way to get the right .bins to load into Tunerpro, read through the help & getting started sections..twice, Moates & Mansur. And
A LOT of these cars got aftermarket chips who's bin's are not public, requiring a little more hardware to download the info from the chip.

Re: free tuner software
You can still pull sensor data w/WINALDL (agonizingly infrequent & slightly delayed) @ 160 baud.
I've never tried connecting TunerPro w/o .bin & .xdf loaded..
OK you still need an .ads file (configures data for/from ALDL transmission).
Pretty sure that chip could be raped with a Burn 2 & Flash & Burn software.
I don't have one yet but I think it has the necessary buffer.

Re: free tuner software
Update: I got tunerpro RT working perfectly with a little help from the guys at tunerpro and about 2 minutes worth of messing with the computer. Very nice program and it should work perfectly for what I need it for. Now maybe someday I can get the rest of the equipment and burn my own chips, but I've got alot of learning to do first so I'll leave that up to pcmforless for now.
