hypertech vs stock chip?
Anybody out there faster with a stock chip? I have a hypertech stage 2 right now, and heard that i may run faster with a stock aujp chip and just setting base to timing to 8 degrees and maybe a bump in fuel pressure vs running a hypertech chip? Any thoughts from anyone?

The stock chip plugs into the hypertech one so pull it and give it a shot!

what do you mean? When i open up the ecm all i can see is a prom that looks like this (see attatchment). Are you saying to pull out the prom and the board that it is attached to?

I still don't understand. I do not have a factory prom. When i open the ecm all i can see is the white hypertech prom. What exactly does a hypertech chip come with when you buy it? Does it come with that green board in your picture and just a white prom cover to put over your factory prom? That is what you are making it sound like.

I have the green thing. The blue thing you posted looks just like my factory chip.
You plug you factory chip into the green board. The green board then plugs into your ECM.

Re: hypertech vs stock chip?
Then how come I have the white looking prom with hypertech written on it? Are you saying that is just a cover that covers the factory prom? and the hypertech is the little black chip on the side of the green board? I am not understanding you here.

That blue thing that i posted is just a picture i got off of the internet somewhere. My prom is white with hypertech written on it. Maybe there is a green adapter board underneath of it , i don't know yet. If so, if i disconnect the green board, then you are saying i will be plugging in a factory prom sideways into the ecm instead of straight down like the way it is now?

Re: hypertech vs stock chip?
What he is talking about is the newer hypertech chip. They piggy back off the stock chip and work together with the stock chip (aka the green board in the pic above) . So on the newer design you can just unplug the piggy back board from the stock chip to return to factory.
However, if you have the white chip in the pic above you have an older Hypertech chip and must completely remove it and replace it with the stock one to go back to stock.
Understand? 3rd gen Will has a different design Hypertech then you so what he is saying does not apply.

Exactly right. I didn't realize there was a difference like 88burnout pointed out, as this is my first dealing with a hypertech chip.
