Seeking guidiance on Efi/Dfi
Seeking guidiance on Efi/Dfi
The question: What is my best option for coverting to a efi system. Do i try to make somthing work or buy a full system.
Background: I have a twinturbo 388 stroker that i am done with from engine ( minus intake) to exhuast out the car. I fabed all the headers and piping myself which has taken sometime and built the motor ect everything myself. Im currently starting on the cooling system fabing a air dam and welding the roll cage. So far everything fits under a stock formula hood
.
My main objective is to gather info on the most effective way to go about a fuel system to injection. In price and quality for what i have and tunability. Currently i am willing to buy a fast system. But i know theres other ways.
The car was a 305 tbi from 1991 that was chiped with some hypertec chip from previous owner. What i do not know is if i can fab or use a tpi system with the same wiring. Just looking for experianced people to help me with options. Id rather learn than buy, and yes i know Fast is not the end all easy way, Having to tune is somthing i expect to do alot of and have alot of fun with.

Talk to Bob at http://www.dynamicefi.com/
This would give you use of mostly stock GM wiring and sensors with much better tuning code for your engine. Easier to learn from scratch with way more options.

As you mentioned there are other systems out there.
I'm an Accel dealer and offer 1st rate help an support, I have plenty of references regarding the same. The Thruster system is extremely diverse and price competitive with most everything out there.
If you want the most versatile system then I'd go aftermarket, not revamped OEMs. They offer lots of control, datalogging, nitrous control and typically better drivability than some others.

Im suprised that prestolite performance has good customer support. They sure don't when you spend $600 on a accel tpi intake manifold and it shows up in a accel box but its a edelbrock. I called them a while back for some replacement parts on a throttlebody made by them and the transferred my call to kinsler fuel injection. maybe they have better support for there DFI but seems like it over priced just like there acdelco / delphi repackaged sensors.

Good or bad, right or wrong Accel is set up to go thru their EMICs/dealers and they haven't cast that manifold since before John Lingenfelter died. The Edelbrock is close but not quite the same.
Not sure why they referred you to Kinsler for the throttle body, maybe they misunderstood?
And for everyones information, virtually all the aftermarket systems use off the shelf GM/Ford stuff, for obvious reasons, and I promise you that if you buy an overpriced MAP sensor etc from FAST or Holley etc it'll be same "overpriced acdelco/delphi sensors" you got from Accel.

The manifold was around 2005, I bought a second one knowing it was going to be a edelbrock on there red racer clearance 2 months ago. The throttle body parts were last month the call transfer was all done by calling accel.
Re: Seeking guidiance on Efi/Dfi
What parts did you need for the Throttle body, I'm curous, maybe I can help?
FYI I have 1 true Accel TPI base for sale, excellent condition.
