Mounting of 730 ecm under dash
I am trying to clean up my wiring and passenger floorboard and am trying to mount my 730 ecm in my 87 IROC in a factory manner.
I have one of these mounts
http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-92-Camaro...-/370543340397
that is supposedly for a 730 ecm. The 730 ecm I have appears to fit.
My question is...it doesn't appear to mount very well under dash. The 2 mounting feet on it are threaded whereas my 87 MAF ecm mount was different. It had through holes that mounted into threaded holes in the bottom lip on hte dash.
Did something change from from the MAF to MAP cars under the dash or am I missing something in how this thing goes together?
Thanks,

What I am hoping someone has is a pic maybe of how the ecm mounted in a 91/92 or a comment about 'thats not what my factory 730 mount looks like'.
Anyone? :-)

That's the proper mount. The wiring harness comes out the opposite side of the hook that goes over the box, as opposed to the bottom for the 302 and 165. The ECM doesn't bolt into the bracket, it just slides up into it (may want to use foam tape for air conditioners to prevent rattling). It mounts the same as the old one, but you have to either lift the front of the dash pad to see where the pin is aligning with the upper mount hole or cram your hand in with the harness to line it up. As before, the part with the 2 little holes faces the back of the car at the bottom of the dash and is screwed to the dash shell.

Thanks! Thats what I needed. I'm modifying mine a bit for my Ostrich I'm using(ribbon cable clearance)...but just wanted to be sure I'm on the right track.
On how it screws into dash...whats up with these feet? I've test fit it w/o ECM and it doesn't appear to slide up inside quite far enough to get these 'feet' above the lip to put a screw into it. It appears to miss by about an inch...but granted I haven't messed with it for 'hours' yet...just a few minutes yesterday. Do the feet sit on top of the metal edge on the dash with screws going through into it? Wonder if they changed the upper post area behind the dash for 91-92.

you might want to find the bracket from someone here.

Re: Mounting of 730 ecm under dash
The bracket is catching on something at the top, which is why it won't go in far enough. The pin is probably hitting the upper support and not going into the hole. Keep in mind that on the older dashes, the screws go through the bracket into the dash and not the other way around like the later cars.
He already has the bracket... He was just using that pic as an example.
:edit: And yes, it fits in the older dashes. I was running a 730 for a couple months until I found out the harness itself was crap (swapped ECMs and ignition modules and still stalled even though it ran fine with my old harness and same parts except ECM!).

Re: Mounting of 730 ecm under dash
Seems to me either I used my old ECM bracket by cutting 2 of the ECM mounting tabs off where the harness is on the 730, or I just kind of stuck it up in there on the newer bracket. I'd have to look, but I know that my 302 is in my dash right now on the old bracket. Maybe, if you're going to stay with the 730, you could get away with drilling out the retainers in the dash and using screws straight through them into the ECM bracket.
