Car: 86 Iroc-z, 92 camaro
Engine: Ls1, 3.1 v6
At what point do you need a tune

i have a 86 camaro tpi 305 and i punched it .030 over and got a cam in it and ported the heads should i be fine with the stock tune on it or get a tuner for it

A tune is a good idea at anytime a mod is done. You have a cammed 310(ish) TPI motor with ported heads. You are probably leaving 20-40 HP on the table from not being tuned let alone potentially ruining the motor by not giving it more fuel etc etc like it needs. Not being a dick but you would be a moron to not get it tuned. Now if you're asking whether or not you can start the car to check for leaks, problems, etc etc with the stock tune then that is ok for the time being but do not drive it around a lot.

yea that's what I was asking I don't have money for tuning it right now but I want to hear it run

At the very least effort and cost. Buy/build an ALDL cable download tunerpro rt and see how far off the tune is. They if you feel the desire go to craig moates and check out the tuning hardware(auto prom) and cost. If you have a laptop your are ahead of game
