Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

As some may know I'm currently running MS2 in my 85 running B&G code. I want to make the jump over to MS2 extra but am unclear if I need to make any mods to my board for ignition input and output.

I am currently running the HEI input mod with the module wired up like the picture below.

My gut says all I will have to do is make the change in the config and set "Spark A output pin" to JS10 but I want to be 100% sure.

This type of question should really be directed at the MS EFI boards.

Yeah I thought that after I posted. I ended up emailing diyautotune and I was right.

It would be nice if we could start getting people active over here though.

Re: Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

The main reason is idle control and the 16x16 VE table compared to the 12x12 the B&G code has. I plan on installing AC in the car again before next summer so I kind of need idle speed control.

Re: Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

the ignition mods are slightly different iirc u will need to move 2 jumper wires.

if u need more help let me know, and the move to ms 2 extra from ms2 b&g is well worth
it

Re: Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

Hrmm OK I guess I'll see how it goes. I'm going to start building a tune file this weekend so I have something to throw at it after I flash it over. Any clue as to which wires it might be? I have no problem making changes as long as I make the right ones.

I'm using the Module version, not the cases Microsquirt, so I'll have to review my notes and see how it translates since the pinout is different between the two.

I'm using the extra code.

I also made a small stepper circuit which my Micro controls using a 4 wire LSx IAC valve. The micro can't control a stepper in stock form, only a PWM or FIDLE valve. None of which I have found that will bolt to a GM throttle body.

Re: Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

Don't know where the link went but here it is again

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/GM_7pinHEI.htm

I am running MS2 on a V3 board currently with the HEI mod from diyautotune. I run a stock IAC GM stepper motor an I have added circuits for fan control, and knock sensing. Primary fan runs off PM2 fidle output, secondary fan off PM3 injection LED output, and knock sensing off PA0 output.

EDIT: This is what I got from Matt Cramer at diyautotune on the issue. I asked him the same as I posted above and this what he responded with:
"You're correct, you can make it work like that as long as you leave the ignition input capture on Rising Edge like the B&G writeup."

Re: Any MS2 Extra experts in here?

Just thought I would update this thread. I was finally able to flash my MS2 V3 over to MS2extra. I didn't have to make any hardware changes other than connecting the boot jumper. I made up a tune based off my old B&G tune and it fired right up. Took me a little while to understand the changes on IAC settings but in the end it makes more sense than in the B&G code. Now it's time to get out and fine tune everything which is always fun!
