383 swap

Hey everyone! So im getting rid of my 305 in my 90 firebird and swapping to a 383. So im curious about the wiring with that. Does anything need to be plugged into the bulkhead junction box at the firewall on the drivers side in place of where the engine wiring harness plugged in. Just wondering how everything else gets power. Thanks!

Re: 383 swap

Way more info is needed. What fuel delivery method did the previous engine use? What fuel delivery method does the new engine use? Are you removing or adding anything?

Re: 383 swap

Your thread is in the wrong section. Plenty of information on the carb swap just use the search.

Re: 383 swap

Look at some of these current threads from a member that just did the swap.

Re: 383 swap

Stuff like that is covered extensively, from every angle in prior threads. You really need to do a simple search. You'll also have much better help if you post this in the carburetor message board. As a next step, review the electrical diagrams at www.austinthirdgen.org

This is the connector on the driver's side of the firewall: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport..._1990_C100.gif
This is the connector from the interior wiring harness to the vehicle's ecm that supplied power and a few other wires depending on options: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport..._1989_C207.gif
And I am going to assume you had a 305 TBI car: http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ine_wiring.gif
