Plug n Play DFI

Ouch,I emailed White racing about the accel 7.0 with interface to just be able to take out the old ECM and plug in the new one and lets just say it costs well over twice the price of the 6.0.....Anyone know of any places that are cheaper or are all the places going to be selling the 7.0 sytems for that much? Here's a copy of the email I got.........

We have new DFI Gen 7 units available only. Accel has stopped shipping all of the 6.0 units.

Here is a breakdown of the units available.

DFI Gen 7 with Linear 02 for 91 Camaro Plug-n-Play $2599

FAST System with WBO2 for 91 Camaro Plug-n-Play $2334

All ECM's can be ordered without closed loop control for about $650 less.

Is White Racing making an interface harness that allows use of the factory harness? Is that what you mean by plug and play?

FYI:

The $2599 price for the Accel system appears to be about 10% above Accel's quoted 'jobber' pricing, which is usually on the high end of the going rate anyway.

Talk to Job Spetter, Jr. of TurboPeople in New York... (914) 478-1727.

You will have a much better experience with them, as well as getting a deal on a box with full sequential capability, enhanced interface software, and incredible flexibility for future engine upgrades and changes.

If you are in need of an interface harness, FastTrack Automotive in California may be another place to contact.

AND, Accel still has the 6.0 units for sale. However that product line is being retired when their current stock is gone -- probably in a couple of months.

Yeah, they have the interface or jumper harness so you can keep your stock harness wich is what I want. That way if I ever want to go back to the stock ECM for any reason I can.

Thanks, for all the replies guys.......I guess i'll give Rick a try...i already emailed fasttrack.they have the jumper harnesses also but they haven't emailed me back yet.

do a search on accel dfi on Ebay...there are a few guys selling the system but I don't know if they will work for our applications.....I'm in the same boat you are,i'll settle for the 6.0 if I can get it cheap enough....or i'll wait a few months and hope the 7.0 gets a little cheaper...its a new system so it will be top dollar for a while.... anyway *** luck.....jt
