1985 TPI into 1955 Chevrolet

My first fuel injection swap, and may be coming to you guys for guidance. I kept the original harness but am installing a Painless harness. Have pretty much finished wiring the engine since taking the pictures.

My dad had a '55 when I was a kid and it is hands down my favorite year out of the tri-fives. The painless harness is a good choice if you're going with a stock ECU, but I believe you need to use the speed density one if my memory serves me correctly. Good luck on you build!

He posted his harness in another thread. He is using the MAF based 86 and up harness. The complication is working with the 85 ECM, but something like the 165 should be just fine.

Have purchased 1227165 ECM.....other obligations have prevented me from spending too much time on the build, but will get back at it very soon!

Any updates? I know it is a bit of Monday Morning Quarterbacking here, but you could have went EBL based on the 165. You still can later if tuning needs to be done. Flash based is so much better than burning proms.

Re: 1985 TPI into 1955 Chevrolet

Thanks for the suggestion...to be honest with you, the past couple months have been hectic. Getting fall cleaning done, lawn prep for winter, and trying to get some more miles on my '62 Corvette before the snow has prevented me from getting too much done on the car. Winter hit early this year...got 6" of snow Tuesday, which required taking the mower deck off my tractor and mounting the blower the earliest I ever have!!! Jeez, I'd be so ready to move south for the winter! Some day........gotta get this car done!
