Anyone have a idea what prom code this is? I usually see them with a four letter code but this one is different is it a remanufactured? It came out of a 3rd gen with a reman Delphi 165 ECU

Re: Prom ID

That sure looks like an old SLP/Street Legal Performance aftermarket PROM. I don't know much about those but I imagine it advances the timing a bit, changes air/fuel ratios and lowers fan temps for starters, results seem hit and miss.

If interested in a tune you would be better served with a custom tune by Tuned Performance or another reputable tuner.

SLP made some really cool factory speed parts for 3rd and 4th gen F bodys among others, was street legal and could be installed by the dealer to maintain the warranty. Their cold air boxes were excellent and still sought after for third gen Firebirds.

Are yawl sure? Have you guys ever seen other ones before they just put that red sticker on them? I guess there code is A796? I'm gonna have to get the equipment out now and try to read this will upload the bin on here if permitted. I know how to differentiate from 2.77-3.27 gears but need to figure out the differences between 87-88 and 89 bins to nail down what application this is for

Re: Prom ID

Two different versions were sold, one through gm performance and one through Slp. Both are not spectacular or a tune. Do a read and look at prom I’d to identify the original bcc

The differences could just be more of a rolling production change..

Re: Prom ID

No idea what im doing the bin im reading isn't showing up normal on TP all 13 on timing table, tried opening it up on different xdf's 32 32b 6e, still the same. Im inserting the header on the very first slot below the single slot on the prom tried rotating the header as well and the notch on the chip is facing the handle

Re: Prom ID

Prom I’d depends on your xdf. I use TUner cat a lot it’s under constant. The bin should be 16kb if read right as well aujp is different offsets 32kb

Re: Prom ID

It’s a 88 350 automatic with vats . Prom iD was changed.
it might be a custom tune from them. It could be AKXZ based

Re: Prom ID

F body didn’t get vats until early 88, I assumed by the date and that it has vats it’s from a 88z if you compare AKXZ it makes sense the changes Slp made. If not mistaken the Firebird got vats first.
