Need help with ecm?

Hey all,
I've been looking at ecm chips for a while. Im not sure what type my ecm chip is. Anywhere i look at one its the PROM chips and when I see videos of people changing them it's just the PROM, but my chip is this long box looking one? I want to custom burn one for the deletion of the egr valve and cold start injector since the previous owner deleted them already... I want a hypertech chip to put in and need to delete the programs off of it. However I'm not sure what equipment I need to delete the programs...and where the heck is the PROM???
Is it in the box looking chip I have in my ecm??
thanks for the help, please ask questions if im unclear.

The ecm uses a 27c128 , you can substitute with a 27c256 or sst27sf512 just watch the chip offsets for a 16k file size.

Re: Need help with ecm?

The prom in soldered into the memcal, a piggyback adapter can by used to bypass it and retain the netress. Or it can be unsoldered and replaced with a newer flash eeprom.its uv erasable but not to cost effective to buy a expensive burner and uv eraser.

ahh okay, I'm not to good with computer stuff lol
However what would I need to burn the memcal chips? Im just looking to alter the data a little on a hypertech chip to erase the egr valve, cold start injector, and cat 02 sensor codes.

Re: Need help with ecm?

Why would you want to delete the o2 malfunction codes ? Read the diy prom stickies or Boostednw has everything needed.

The cat was deleted off of my car, previous owner had the stock chip sent off to someone to have the codes I listed deleted. If I install a new chip with those programs still on it then I'll start throwing codes and she wouldn't be running right. I did some looking and found a burner 2 for sale with the adapters, but I will definitely take a look in those stickers.

Re: Need help with ecm?

You might do some research on how a o2 sensor and efi works before just disabling error codes.
