Craig Moates max232?
I have recently purchased all materials to burn my own chip. I have a 91 Z28 with the 730 ECM. I purchased a cable from Steve Ruse and can not connect or link up? I contacted Steve and he said to put a 10k ohm resistor between the A and B connectors which i did, then went into to diagnostic mode via CM software and I pushed #1 for 2min's and nothing? Can anyone help me link up?

Sup blue, i too am having the same problem???? I have the CM chip addapter which i have recently purchased and have not been able to link, therefore not been able to burn a chip because no data? HELP!!!!!! TYTY

I was having the same probelm when i first got my akm cable and moates software. I hope your cable has its own power input (cig lighter adapter), and change the options in moates software to read 730 ecm, not 165 (its like #9 on themain menu)

I do not have a power connection to my cable? Why do i need that? And since my cable does not have that, what should i do to hook power up to it? I'm guessing that i need to hook power up to the 10K ohm resistor when i jump it from a to b???

craig's software doesnt allow powering of the cable from the laptop, thats why it needs a seperate power supply in order for the the cable to work with craig moates software (at least thats what akm cables siad on my invoice...his cable has a sepaerate power suplly and works perfect)

I seem to be having the same troubles you guys are i cannot link up to the software, i do have a power supply to my cable (the cable on CM's website) and have a 165 ecm. Still not linking up. If you find a solution please post it and let us know.

I am using Win 95, i have tried the program in a DOS shell, restarting the computer in DOS mode, and using a boot disk, none work.
it works now: i had my polarity reversed @ ALDL
