you using a 10k resistor? this puts it in aldl mode and locks the idle at 1k, yeah you can goto wot, but be aware the ecm wont retard knock. If it knocks you'll hear it.

I have a maf car running the 6E code.I am using a 3.9k resistor, does the wattage matter?I don't run with a knock sensor,I like unprotected tuning .Really I have a 400sbc and can't find a ks that don't go crazy.I'm sure I could get one to work but why?I have worked with carbs for years w/ no ks.Anyways I am using the 3.9k resistor so is 1000rpm idle normal?

doesnt 3.9k put the car in limp home mode? im not sure about the idle speed, but it would probably be a better idea to use a 10k and have the car running somewhat normally.

I think JoBy's site says to use the 3.9k for the 165 ecm.I guess idling at 1000rpm w/winaldl hooked up is not right?

i did some checking and for the few maf cars i looked at 3.9k is backup mode

if it helps my car idles normally with the 3.9k, idles only high with the 10k.

The only point of the resistor it to tell the ecm to start transmitting. The best way is to run no resistor, but if you have to use the 10k

10k
Bypasses Lean clamp for integrator
IAC Reset if RPM > 2K for the first time
Integrator reset criteria disabled
Burst Knock Retard Disabled
Bypass RPM and Temp Criteria for ESC Enable
Set Idle to 1000 RPM

3.9k
backup spark and fuel control test mode

shorted
Diagnostic display mode
(check engine lamp flashes with O2 sensor)

Back up mode? That don't sound too safe for wot.But that is the correct way?I guess there is no need for wot w/winaldl?A grid readout for the spark advance would be nice. JoBy, how hard would that be?

Using a 10k (or less) resistor is the only way to get a MAF tpi to transmit all the 160 baud data. That will change the ECM mode and raise idle to 1000 rpm. You will get data in all modes exept for the normal and I think the the 10k mode is the best one to use.
WinALDL shows all data available on the 160 baud data stream. You have more variables when using the 8192 baud data format.

You can do WOT testing and look at the spark knocks to see if you have too much timing. I think that the timing retard is disabled, so take it easy if you get knocks.

You can [Save Table] and open the file with Excel. It is easy to make graphs there.

This is news to me!! I use the 10k resistor and my idle doesn't get locked at 1 grand! It will idle where it is supposed to according to what I put in the chip. I leave the resistor in all the time when I am scanning and it
