But if you're going to make your own chip from scratch, you'd probably be better off using the ARAP code as a starting point....
(You probably have to modify the spark table as it is a bit too aggresive if you decide to use ARAP, but otherwise it's a good starting point!).
ZaphodB, Thanks for the response. I planned on starting with the ARAP, but it's not too clear in the FAQ about using it on the 87-88 cars. I just wanted to be sure burning the ARAP with the VATS disabled would work in the 87, as the programs are different. So basically just unplug the cold start and remove VATS the chip should run?

But take your time and do it right and you'll end up with a chip better than any off-the-shelf chip you can buy. I've done my own as well as helped a few friends....
(I have tons of empty proms and consider this to be a hobby of mine - Thus I have no commercial interest in this, just do it for fun!!!).
