305 and 350 memcals same? Not proms
I want to know if the memcals are the same for a 305 and 350 from a '90-92 speed density setup.
I know the programming is differant, not worried there.
I just want to know if the basic memcal is the same between the two. I can't tell by GM part number because the have differant broadcast codes so the p/n's will be differant.
I am concerned because the EST circuits are in the memcal.
Thanks!

A memcal is a knock sensor?
I ask because my friend has a 305 memcal (home burned prom) in his 355 engine, it does not set any codes like a wrong knock sensor.
The question is still open, are 305 and 350 memcals ('730 ECM) the same minus the program in the chip??

50 views and no-one?
I of course searched and found nothing. I know many people have swapped from 5.0 to 5.7, did you just do a reburn of the prom or buy a new one?
Knock sensors are differant and I imagine the EST circuitry inside the memcal would be differant as well.

Yes the Memcals are different
From Traxion's article:
The limp home mode chips (netres, short for network resistors) and possibly the ESC Filter ('90-'92 TPI F-Bodies, aka Knock Module) are different for the 305 and 350 and these are located in the Memcal.

Thanks so much. I must have read that thing a dozen times last year but didn't remember seeing it there (the answer).
