SD conversion VSS edit in prom

Okay so today I am undertaking my speed density conversion. I am currently repining the harness. I already mounted the MAP. I bought an AUJP memcal. I have read that I need to edit the bin for the old style VSS. One site that I was reading about the conversion said "requires PROM change. Mag. VSS at 0x18 b6 for $8D PROMS". So what do I have to change at 0x18? Can I do this with a hex editor?

This change is easily made with GMEPro or TunerCat, probably with WinBin also.

You'll be tweaking more than just the VSS input param so jump into a tuning app and get it over with. Doing it all with a hex editor is probably possible, but a huge waste of time.

Oh so it's one of the ECM switches that has to be chaned for the VSS. I though you had to make a edit to the code for the VSS. So which switches do i change in Tunnercat?

Under the ECM Switches menu, scroll down to "Magnetic Speed Sensor Installed" and set it to no (unchecked). This sets it to look for a 2000 pulse/mile input signal, typical of the optical VSS unit in older cars.
