Can't get my IAC counts down at idle, have to ask.
Hi.
I searched for info in this here and I got some great stuff but here's my problem.
I just built my engine (in sig) and I started with the arap bin.
After changing the commanded idle speed to 700 rpm (would not idle well at 575 at all) I figured I'd try to get IAC counts around 20-30 or so.
I adjusted the trottle blades so it basically holds idle around 700 rpm on the blades only and set TPS to .55 V. After driving around a while (still in break-in, only light cruise) the car wants to idle at 750-800 and I get IAC counts at around 40-50 constantly. I am confused.
I thought that it would settle at around 700 rpm w. low IAC since I opened the throttle blades to idle on them only?? Am I missing something?
Base timing is set to 6 deg. Plugs are new, rotor and cap almost new.
Also, I copied the spark curve from a standard 89 350TPI to the arap to use during break-in to avoid knock. Good/bad idea?
Thanx.
Bjorn

There is a setting in the tables for idle adder when in park/neutral. It's set at 100RPM added factory I think. Is your park/neutral switch telling your ECM when you are in drive? If not, you may have to allow for it in the bin. Just unhooking the wire tells the ECM it's in drive all the time though so your problem would be backwards from most. Grounding the wire will raise the idle by the amount set in the PROM tables.

Yes, that right, I forgot that.
I did change that though, "idle speed add in park/neutral" i believe. I set it down to 10 rpm or so but maybe that's what causes it. I will check.
Thanks alot.
