Timing retard at WOT
I was playing with the IROC today and I noticed that at WOT in 2nd gear (5 speed, 350 TPI) I got 4 knock counts and the computer pulled out 7* of timing. Yet, under normal driving, and even going up the steepest hills in town, I get no retard.
So... what tables should I be looking at to pull some timing out at WOT? I'm currently running a mostly unmodified APYP bin. The only changes that I've made are the injector constant, fan turn on/off temp and a couple flags.

In the APYP bin that I'm running, the table looks like this:
400......0.0
1200....2.8
2000....2.8
3200....9.1
4800....1.1
Other than pulling the 9.1 out and making it more modest (say 2.8), I'm not sure that I'm going to gain much from this table. I went through 2nd gear so fast that I didn't really have time to compare my RPMs to the timing retard, but it seemed to pull out 6-7* right from the point that I stepped on it (say 2,500 rpm) to when I shifted at around 5,000.
I'm thinking that I may need to screw with the "Main Spark Advance Vs. RPM vs. Load table in the high load areas.

well if your not getting knock anywhere but at wot then i would suggest cutting the values down to slightly more reasonable numbers. try runnign this judging by the amount of knock retard you have now.
400......0.0
1200....2.5
2000....2.5
3200....2.1
4800....2.1
this is what im currently runnign on a l98 setup with 9.8:1 compresion. give it a shot. the real issue is the pressure spike in VE at the 3200 rpm range, the tpi intake is really pushing alot of air in there. i keep wondering if that 9 was a missed key stroke or something. at 3200 rpm the engine with the TPI intake is really getting alot of air into the cylinders driving up static compresion quiet a bit. its actually doing what the designers engineered it for.
try the above table shoud fix your knock retard. also ad a bit more if it feels soggy. leave the other timing tables alone and go after highway spark params if your looking for gas milage.in fact if you want post your current spark table i would like to see it.

If that WOT spark adv. table does not allow you to pull enough
then go into your main spark adv.vs RPMvs. load and pull some timing in the last three load range slots at the desired RPM .
If your scan tool does not record then try going from about
2500 RPM in third or 4th.
If you only get KR on initial stab ot throttle then you may want to try some acceleration enrichment.
