ARAP Bin

Okay, I've heard of this bin before, but does anyone have some background info on it, and is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to use it on my car? I've got headers to install in the spring and would like to do a PROM upgrade so that's why I'm wondering if that would work alright?

The ARAP will work but timing may be a little on the aggressive side ,but you may be ok with that lower stat. If you dont want to burn your own proms then I would retain the 87 prom and advance timing to about 9 degrees initial,But use you scan tool to make sure you are not getting knock retard.

I wouldn't be burning it myself, but a couple friends of mine have all the equipment for burning. I knew the ARAP was a bit more of an agressive tune, I just didn't know if it was practical or advantageous for me to even bother putting it in.

I was wondering if you might be able to make your signature any bigger? Is that possible?

haha...are you trying to tell me something? I need to make a new one very soon and that one will be smaller.

I was reading the Tech Articles and it states in there how the ARAP bin would work well as a good starter for my car...but it mentions about getting a plug kit for the cold start injector or just unplugging the cold start injector. How would I go about unplugging the CS injector? Is it as simple as disconnecting the wire harness?

Yes, it is as simple as disconnecting the harness. However, definitely put a plug kit on your list of items to get long term. Why? If the cold start injector is leaking then it will cause some small fueling issues. The best thing to do is to just get rid of it all together. Both Accel and AS&M have cold start injector plug kits.

I've used the ARAP on MAF cars and have found it to be a pretty good start. Yes, sometimes the timing is a little aggressive to start with. But, just try it and if the timing is to aggressive then just revert to your old timing tables. Other things to keep in mind are ...
1) Make sure to use the ARAP that has the N.O. fan fixed.
2) If the car is having problems starting then you'll want to increase the first several values in the startup fueling from zero to something higher.

Both (1) and (2) have previous postings on this board about it.

Generally speaking, the fancier the signature the slower the car...

Tim, thanks.
