Chip trouble

I have had a problem erasing some chips lately. They do not want to be erased. I put them in the Datarase eraser for 20 minutes and when I use the "blank check" feature of the PP2 it says not erased. I tried the same procedure a couple of times with 3 chips all to the same ending. Does this mean the chips are bad? THe chips are 27c256 I believe. Any ideas?

read the chips are they all FF or OO ?? some are different. try earasing them for a bit longer ? sometime chips get hard to earse after a while. get in touch here at www.moates.net and get some flash chips. they are much easier to use.

Assuming they're UV-eraseable PROMs, clean the little glass window on the chip. Dirty window will prevent erasing.

I like rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip for PROM window cleaning.
