I need one for a 97 Chevy truck that reads SES and ABS codes, as well as resets the lights.

Not that I've seen.

Aw, come on... I went looking a while back. What about:

http://www.obd-2.com

I've never seen anything better for less...

Don't know what it'll do for ABS though...

Craig,
I have been running on empty all day now, but I didn't see anything on that site that said FREE. Did I miss something??

Also is there any chance you will be updating your software to work with XP any time soon. I don't have a laptop and none of my friends have older versions of Windows on theirs. I really want to be able to use your program because I think it will really help my lack of horsepower problem in my Camaro.

Oh wait.....do I download the "Free Complete Working Copy of the VE1 OBD-2 Browser" and then the GM Non-Uniform Diagnostic Trouble Codes??

What about a cable and any other needed stuff?

Will this also read ABS codes??

Well, they sell what looks to be a hardware interface and the software that goes with it is free, but I guess you're right it seems like a package deal...

I don't have any first-hand knowledge or recommend this product or against it, it's just what turned up from some browsing for that kind of thing.

No, I probably won't update the program to work out of Windows-Xp/NT. However, you can run it off of a boot disk without any problem and get it going off a floppy. Easy enough, I have all the boot disk stuff linked from my site. Get you a Win98 boot disk and go to town. You might need to play with the XP HD partition to get it visible from the 98 boot disk, if it's formatted NTFS there might be a workaround, don't know...

Paul, BTW, what kinda power you have? Those numbers right? I'd have thought more with your combo.

Yeah all your computer tech is like a foreign language to me unfortunately, but I'll run the boot disk stuff by my roommate since he's a comp sci major.

I guess I'll keep looking for a free OBD-2 program too. Hopefully something I can make a cable for.

Let me know if you happen to find anything.

Thanks.

Paul:

You could look at www.obddiagnostics.com. You can download the software free. The completed interface that works with it is $85 shipped and communicates in all OBD2 protocals without buying separate hardware.

Thay do offer the interface in kit form if you are interested.

Don't have any experience or connections with this product, but it sure sounds nice. At least for the price.

Maybe someone else here has experience with it.

Hope this helps.

Jeff
