hot cam with tpi [spark tabel]

Anyone got a spark advance tabel for a hot cam tpi MAP car? I would like to compare it with my tabel.
I hade to add ALOT of spark on idle to keep it alive.

Thanks

It's always about giving the engine what it wants.

Now with that said, by adding alot of timing your also changing the MAP readings at idle. So you might be inadvertantly richening it up from moving it over slightly with the next table entry.

Also, with the oem O2 sensor you can alter how it reads with timing to a certain degree, and if you're running closed loop that's another slight error.

so whats your tip here? Letting the car go in closed loop at idle. Record som BLMS with my new spark tabel and make the changed i need?
And is the lower VE tabel that control open loop fuel maps aswell?

To the best of my knowledge and from what others here are runnign in their own hotcam cars, u will prolly be seeing somewhere in the 24-28 degree of timing at idle to get it more or less stable, depending on how low(rpm) u r trying to shoot for...

Hot cam tends to like to idle in the 725-750(in gear, im at 800 in p/n) range with w/ automatics from my own experience and what others here have come up with....

do a search on the board here and i believe mike davis' site and u will see some .bins for hotcams....

Search for "hotcam" and related things, quite a few of u run a hotcam or very similar specs..

Also , your will likely end up in the 55-60kpa range in gear diling as grumpy stated, if u pull fuel from there when attempting 128 also pull fuel out of the other low rpm, low kpa areas which the eng would only see under stall conditions(it wont drop rpm then add more fuel to compensate further aggravating the situation). This will aid u immensely in trying to get your idle setup cause im sure u will get all kinds of weird oscillationa like i did if your just starting to play with the timing now..

Most of this has been discussed before and seconded by grumpy, trax, Glenn and the other experienced folk we have floating around here, so do some searching and at least some will be revealed :-)

Thanks.

I tried 20 degrees of timing on idle before. But the car surge and the car "jumped" of idle.

I thought only the "spark advace on closed TPS" where used on idle timing. But i guess i whas wrong?

Now I have set the timing to 29.8 degrees at idle and the car is sooo much smoother. I havent looked at my BLMS after my change, but i guess its a little lean now i bumped up the timing.

The wierd is that I got my timing and BLMS pretty damn good abow 3000rpm to wot ( used a wide band to tune it ). But under that I did get idle surge and knocks.

Is it the lower VE tabels that control open loop idle also?

Thanks

Most of your open loop tables for fueling issues use the Ve tables as the basis for the measurement............If something is saying add 10% at X then it is adding that 10% according to the corresponding VE table point.... I cant say that all are like this but as far as i know and have found to the best of my knowledge its holds true

I'm running an unmodified ARAP spark table. I have not done anything with spark at all and mine idles great. The two things I found to make it happy was to take away fuel at idle and give it fuel everywhere else and to re-adjust the min-air.
