58 mm Throttle Body for TPI ?
This thread does not contain any code content and I apologise for that.
I just wanted some thoughts on these . I am thinking about
using one on my car for bracket racing. At first my egine combo
will be slightly above stock until I get my new engine built. It will
be a high compression 383 with a very large cam.
I think that I can handle the changes in the bin to compensate
for the big TB.
I would just like some feed back from someone that has tuned one of these because I realy respect the opinions of the people
on this board.
thanks
ED

i dont think you'll have to change anything in the BIN..... its pretty much a bolt on...
besides, the throttle body isnt the largest restriction on the TPI.... so its not like more air is getting into the motor
obviously you'll have some work when you put the 383 in though.

I plan on doing some porting on the plenum, I have seen major
room for improvement in there.
Do you have any other suggestions other than buying an
$800 intake. I have access to an entire machine shop and all of the pro advise that my little brain will hold.
Thanks for the reply.

Modify an lt1 intake to fit on your gen 1 small block.
Here's how to do it:

That's what I plan on doing. Performance should be close to the MR.

as stupid as it sounds, why not just make a intake. you have the tools right there... and while it may not come out perfect the first few times, the actual cost of the intake when you make it yourself is around $20-$30.....

I have thought about using an after market intake
(maybe a tunelram or something) and fab-ing a custom
rail. I just havent decided about a throttle body for that.
A custom intake is possible just don't think I could make it
look as profesional as It would need to be to please ME.
A flow bench would probably be a necisity, which I do not
have access to.
Man I need a spell checker!
Thanks Alot,
ED

This link has alot of useful info I forwarded it to a friend that needs to put a dist. into a lt1.
I gues that I'm just old school because I'm in love with the looks
of the TPI. I just hope that I can make it perform the way that
I want.
Thanks,
ED
