Another ALDL problem

Here's the problem that I'm running into. 165 ECM. I have a IBM Thinkpad 380Z running W2K and the Mastach cable. It will connect with tunerpro rt from 5 to 15 minutes and then it will start giving me errors and will not display data or reconnect. Also happens with Moates software as well.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This isn't a cable problem. We're (craig and I at least) not entirely sure what causes this. I also have this problem with my AutoXray (with the latest firmware, even). I've made the conneciton a little more robust in the next version of TunerPro RT by adjusting the port baud rate a little. I've only had the connection lock once so far since the change, and it was after 30 minutes of driving.

when this happens, turn your car off (key completely off) and let it sit for 20 seconds (takes about that long for power to leave the ECM).

Anway, based on my experiments I think its a buad rate issue specific to the 165 (haven't heard of non-165's with the problem, but it might be a problem for others too). I'm thinking of adding the ability to tweak the baud rate a little in my program. I know that Craig offers this ability in ECM852. You might try tweaking it a little.
