Help me out here guys

First off ill let you know i know nothing about chip burning but here what the problem is, i am taking my car to my brothers sometime real soon and his friend is gonna burn me a chip. Well he needs to now what kind of chip my computer takes and what cable hooks up to my computer?? i think thats what he was asking lol.
Btw i have a 1985 305 tpi with a few mods . Sorry guys if this is a stupid question, like i said i dont know much about this kind of stuff and yes i have done some searching other posts but i couldnt find anything of much help.

Have you chip guy subscribe to the list.
If he doesn't know what chip your running, personally, I wouldn't trust him to try and tune my car.

85 TPI has the '870, it was the only year that ecm was used.

If your gonna start tuning I suggest you move up to the '165 or better yet '730 but the 730 is a more involved swap than the 165.

Dude that's definately bad karma if your tuner doesn't even know what ecm he's tuning. If you let him tune your car you may end up swapping ecms alot sooner than you planned. Also realize that if he messes it up just enough you could also end up swapping a motor in too.

im pretty sure he knows what hes doing since he did his own tuning on his 10/11 sec. firebird. But he just told me to do some research and i couldnt find much so im just asking what chip i need and what cable i need. He knows what hes doing.

I went through the whole artice and didnt see anything about the type of cable. Was it there and i missed it?
