This is just really annoying...

I am trying to reprogram my chips. The type of chip I use w/ my ecm is 27c32. I ordered five brand new chips when I bought the pp2. I verified that all of the chips were erased. All data is FF. But I can't reprogram any of them. Does anyone have any trouble shooting ideas for me? I can't find any in the searches.

Read the instructions for pp2 and make sure u have the voltage setting/chip setting correct :-)

Also make sure u have no backgrd apps running as it makes pp2 get stupid sometimes
later
Jeremy

PS have u tried searching by your chip type here, im sure your not the only that has had issues

Yes, I am using the 27c32 setting for the chip. I thought that the voltage setting was chip specific. I am not running any background programs, including explorer. Yes, I tried searching for the chip type but I didn't find anything relevant to my current problem. I read the aftermarket chips and 2 of them say nmc27c32qe and 3 of them say nmc27c32q. Is this the problem or are they compartible?

Those older EPROMs are a pain. The ones you get are pulls and alot of them dont work. I got a bunch of them and only a couple of them worked. Might be easier to get an adapter from craig and use the newer flash stuff. I use 28C64B EEPROMs. Program at light speed and are alot easier to use then the UV erase stuff.

28C64B ????
Is this a 24 pin devise, that you can use instead of the 2732s?. Do you need to double stack the bin?.
TIA

No, unfortunatly its a 28 pin chip so I had to fab an adapter for it. Onyl cost 10 dollars to make the adapter and it was worth every penny of it. Ken73 (?) is the one who recommended it. It onyl requires that two extra leads be run. All 24 pins can jsut be connected as they would be for the 2732. IIRC, there where 24 pin EEPROMs made but I ran a PN for one I found in an old book and its long since been out of production, and its doubful the PP would have supported it.

That is where I bought mine from also. I played with the voltage and under 21 and 25, I was able to burn chips but not 12.5.
