catalytic converter hack

I plan on using a catalytic converter on one of my cars. So I would like to observe what's going on while tuning. The 89-91 beretta has a cat temp sensor. It's displayed through the ALDL. How hard would it be to add similar code for the 730? Is it possible to "cut and paste" the code from another bin?

There isn't an actual sensor (unfortunately). The cat-con temperature is modeled within the ECM. Uses inputs such as aiflow, commanded AFR, RPM, and spits out a temperature term.

As for retro-fitting, sure can be done. Don't know how close the model will be for a different engine though. This code is also in the mask $88 code ('730). However the hac doesn't have that area commented.

I could swear that I seen a sensor mounted directly to the cat....It looked like an O2 sensor

Not having that area commented sucks!

You shouldn't be so hard on the poor guy that did the hac. He was nice enough to release what he had. Also, there is information on this modeling elsewhere. Such as the 727_730_A1 file, and then the $8F hac, and then. . .

I'm in no position to suggest he did a bad job. Was thinking it would have been hard for a guy like me to find the location. If it's commented then I would at least have a slim chance of doing something. BUT from what you have stated it might not be the actual temp anyways...

Why not just mount an EGT near the neck of the Cat?.
$179 buys a pretty good setup nowadays.

It's amazing watching the EGT at first start, it just rockets to 700dF.

If your using a Vette bin, you can use the oil temp input couldn't you?? (for an EGT)

I'm told a '730 can run 2 map sensors. Whats the pins for the second map input?
