Pocket Programmer 2 or Flash-N-Burn?
I'm planning to order my programmer this afternoon. I've pretty much made up my mind (will not say so I don't bias the responses), but thought I'd make one last sanity check with several "guru's" because I value your opinions....
Which would you recommend, and WHY?
The Pocket Programmer 2 or Craig's Flash and Burn?
If it makes any difference, I do have a laptop with both serial and USB ports, have already purchased Datamaster, and have TunerPro RT.
Thanks for your time...

I vote PP2 , its what i use and the plug and play feature of it was nice for a computer neophyte such as myself was at the time.
This is my 2 cents worth and Im sure anything craig is selling is a decent product

Nothing against the PP2 (I own one and love it), but it isn't necessarily plug and play. It works great, though!
PP2 supports far more chips (even though there are only 3 that we use in general in the DIY-EFI community - 29C245, 29F040, and 27SF512).
If you feel you will ever need to burn non flash (27C series) or feel you'll need a programmer for other non car use, PP2 is probably the way to go.
Alternately, Craigs (non-commercial, hobbyist, nice guy) FnB is just as solid, does not require external power (or a parallel port for that matter), is not sensitive to things like "mouse movement" (like the PP2 is), and is half the price. It supports all three "major" chips for writing (29C256, 29F040, and 27SF512), and can read all "major" 27 series chips (2732A, 27C128, 27C256, 27C512, etc). On the other hand, it does require a driver. The driver, however, works great in Win98, WinXP, and Win2K. Oh, and I write the software (if that means anything). Instant support if a features missing!
The choices are many and great! The DIY-PROM community is making progress!

i have been fortunate enough through criags good gracies to test alot of his products out. I have seen how much more stable his programming software is and how not so stable other eprom burners etc are. There very little chance considering the use of flash card, etc in the computer industry you will ever need an eprom programmer for anything other then tunning your ecm.
id recomend the burn1 i know sevral people with them and now my eprommer5 will be finding a new home in the garbage !

Thanks, Guys!!! I think I'll proceed with my original plan. I'm ordering Craig's FNB. I only plan to use it for the Firebird, and I will be doing only the "major" chips that don't require UV erasing, so it should do everything I need to be able to do, for less money and what sounds to be easier to use.
Again, THANKS FOR THE REPLIES!!!

I use Craigs Flash and Burn USB with great results. I have not used the others, but FnB works perfect for me. (And I prefer to send my money to Criag due to his hobbies!)
Thanks Craig!

I just spent part of thursday nite with craig on the phone getting my computer to recognize the hardware (Flash&Burn/BURN1) as being in place, he obviously knows what he is doing. (dont worry my computer is super old) after he explained the few simple steps to reading and writing a chip, it seems simple enough to understand.
