T-5 Shift Lights in $8D and 7730 ???

Anyone know what controls the "SHIFT UP" in the 7730 ECU? I'm using the Super_8d ECU file from Mark Mansur's (Mangus) site, but it only references auto trans TCC stuff. Does anyone know where or what controls this light? Do I need a different ECU file for my TunerPro RT?

Sure hope someone can help me out on this.....

Have a Great Day!!!

Your going to need a copy of the 730 hac from ecmguy's website and an understanding of how to read the code and modify the hex..

To my knowledge no one has made the shift lite stuff a option in any of the editing programs

Do you use Tunercat at all? They had the $32b shift light tables for me when I asked them last week for it. There were 3 tables in there for it.

Unfortunately, no.

I've got Datamaster and a licensed copy of TunerPro RT to go with my Moates Flash-N-Burn.

Sounds like I may have to buy TunerCat as well if I want to get my shift light back, doesn't it? What kind of capabilities did you get with this info from them?

What BCC is the bin you're using?

Previously,

I thought the Auto trans bit "not " being set would allow use of the shift light (on another pin) and would disable or inversly actuate the TCC solenoid output (undesirable with auto installed).
I seem to remember this from a previous post.
Just curious.

IIRC, the 32B mask only works with the MAF setup. I don't think it can replace his $8D without converting from SD

Obviously, but perhaps $8D has these types of tables in it too. Nobody I knew knew these $32b ones existed until I asked TC.

If your running the Super AUJP bin, that is an auto bin so it is not going to work right. The shift light on the ECM is the same pin that is used for the TC lockup so the ECM will probably light your shift light everytime it wants to lock the TC. You should start with a manual car's bin.

Pins are different

Actually Iroc, the pins are different on the 730.
F6 is the TCC output
F1 is the Shift light output.

I think the output would still work with the bit disabled.
(see above)
I don't know all of the code to know what else goes with it.
The TCC parameters "may" operate it, I'm not sure.

Well, I'm going with the AXYC bin that GM superceded my stock bin with back in '92 when doing an all day tuning session in the next day or so, so we'll see how that works out (both performance and shift light wise). Sure wish I had the code like scorp508 has in his 32B bin in my $8D (or if it's there, knew where it was). Will let everyone know how that comes out.

Thanks for all the replies, I can tell I've still got a lot to learn. Have a Great Day!!!!

Using this BIN (which is for a manual transmission), my shift light is operational again. Thanks for the help!

Has anyone come up with an ECU for $8D file that makes the operation of the shift light "adjustable/tuneable"?

I asked the Tunercat guy's about this awhile ago and they said it was unavailable for 8D because they have used up all 99 of the available areas for constants in the current version of the software but that it will be implemented in the next update.

Did they give you any indication of when that next update might be available? I just purchased Tunercat for the $8D for my DIY stuff on my 383. TC has a few features I couldn't find in Datamaster. so I'm going to use TC instead. This will be a nice add-on feature to my DIY efforts on this car.

Have a Great Weekend!

I knew, so did anyone that has read the hack. In fact, I'm planning on adding the tables so they can control whatever I want

Would it be possible to use the shift light ouput to activate NOS? I'm NOT planning on running NOS, but maybe a good idea for someone that is? I haven't looked at the hac to see what's involved in the shift light stuff, since I have no need, just throwing around ideas here.....

Now I'm fairly new to this, and have no experience with the actual coding yet (I've only played around a wee bit in TunerPRO using 8d_v03 and Super AUJP) so forgive me if this is blatantly wrong, but if you're setting up an ECU for a manual car anyway, you wouldn't need the TCC constants. Why not put the shiftlight constants in their place? In 8d_v03 that's 7 constants that are just taking up space (for a stickshift car anyway.)
