Whacko 2732A Eproms in a 747

I bought some new 2732A Eproms and was doing some stuff on a buddies 747 truck. Eprom programmed fine and verified. Truck started and ran Ok but only for a little bit, then the ECM freaked out. Did another burn on a stock 2732 chip and all was fine. Then did a burn on another one of my new chips and the whole ugly mess started over again.

Is there a difference in 2732Eproms? Where can I get 2732's that behave with the 747 ECM?

I'm glad I found this problem on a TBI truck and not my buddies 26PSI Grand National!

There are several versions of the 2732s, the big difference is the programming voltage. I forget the exact numbers, but always try programming them on the lowest voltage first. Programming them on too high of voltage can weaken ot kill them.

Not to mention they haven't been made in almost 15 years now. So even in a warehouse, they can have been exposed to RFI from lightning, and who knows what else over the years. I have always bought *pulls*, and the last batch of 100 had to be at least 50% junk.

And if your using windows, be sure nothing is running in the background, when your programming.

The 2732s, from what I've seen are starting to violate the *rules*.

Yes I'm using the PP2. When you set to 2732A I believe that it uses 21V to program. Chips were new. Truck started fine and idled. As we got down the road things got way worse with absolute shutdown and reset of ECM. We barely made it back. Reburnt same bin on an OEM chip and that dog ran just fine.

It could have moved slightly in the prom holder, and caused limp home mode??

I just reprogrammed my 21V chips at 25V using my PP2 and now the chips work fine! Go figure?????

also, I'm looking for a decent $42 ECU file for TunerPro. Anybody have a decent one that they're willing to share?

Thanks
