new best 10.95 - some prom relation.

Well any of you that know me know that I have been waiting for this one..
It all started out bad prior to leaving for track find that my 26" slicks have thread showing, and knowing this should be the best air I have seen all year I figured I would get the shaft..

Well I put my old 28" tires on from my Camaro knowing that it would put me at a bad gear disadvantage.
So anyway figuring I would not run real well I lower timing Via prom to 36 degrees total - car traps a little faster @ 38* but wants to spin a little more being I have all these traction problems.
Anywaaaaay..
First pass DA was 1300ft.
1.494 60 ft with a slight spin again....
6.72 @ 98.23
10.95 @ 123.5

Second pass DA was up to 1800ft.
1.444 !!! finally a dead hook and by far best 60 yet.
6.95 @ 97.7
10.97 @ 122.90 MPH dropped with air.

Eliminations had to drop back to 11.5

Well I am really happy this finally happened and really surprised with the tall tire - But also see that I have more traction issues than I can feel.

So there it is ..
Pump gas, through pipes, 3500 lbs w/driver and driven 5000 miles this year and last.
Thanks to all that have helped.
I am going to try to go to MIR at the end of this month to try some sea level air - so maybe I can better it.

Just curious, what AFR heads are you using? Ported or stock?
Congrats on the new best. Do you think you would have hooked up better with the 26 tire?
Do you contribute the new best to the tires or the air? Sorry for the thousand questions, a friend has a g-body and is building up a 400 with AFR heads. He's looking to be in the high 11's with street tires and low 11's with slicks, pretty much the exact combo as you only we're looking to use the Stealth Ram.

Thanks alot guys - its really appreciated!

I don't think I would have 60 ft'ed better, but if it hooked with the 26's it would have run faster being that it crosses line at peak HP, with 28's it crosses line @ 5800.. But I contribute the great traction to the 28's. If I had the money I would install 4.10s now and keep 28's on the car, it just looks better with 26s though.
The afr's are comp. ported 195's, but the intake is still 1204 port and using a 58mm TB. Some things I can do to gain a little, But I'm not about to blow 500 on a mono blade.

(edit) Good luck with the G-Body! They are great builders..

Thats quite simply amazing.

You really need to put your combo in print somewhere where it won't be forgotten and can be known to future generations.

You just cant argue with that car, no boost, no race fuel, no nitrous, not some stripped down track only car

I love it, maybe if i do the cam and heads on my T-type we can line em up.. until then im stuck running measly 11.5's on 116 oct.

Thanks alot fellas,
Measly 11.5 = LOL - nice runner
I'm a sucker for those cars.. I always wanted to put a turbo 3.8 in a 67-69 Camaro. I'm just missing three things: The 3.8,the Camaro, ohh yeah the money to.

I have been telling Tom for over a year that he needs a web site for that beast. He didn't just find a proven combo (nothing wrong with that either). The setup is original and was a bit of trial and error . I think the most interesting part is what it took for him to get to this point. It's a lot of hard work. Very impressive

Congrats again!:hail:

I just thought I'd point out why I think your combo is doing so well. The mini-ram and cam. You matched your components to your purpose... going as fast as possible. Too many times I read on these boards about wanting low end torque for off the line. That's solved with a high stall TC, not installing a cam that's imbetween wimpy and weak.
Your cam is big and your intake is short. Both of those contribute to making more HP where others would fall on there face.
Seriously though, when did ANY v8 every have a problem with "low end" . Even if it only made 200ft-lbs of torque it's an f-body, not a 4400lb b-body!
I love the combo and if I could only suggest one thing to making more horsepower... larger plenum. I know a guy that milled down the top of his Lt1 intake and added some extruded hex aluminum (2 liters) and is making the most horsepower for any lt1 headed hot cammed motor.
Either way you're still in the 10's n/a with a 10-bolt. That's like killing 2 birds with 1 stone.... just amazing.
