can't get tunerpro rt to connect to ecm

well I just switched mt car over from TBI to TPI and it runs but very poorly. before I switched over I could read data with WinALDL using my serial cable and my serial to USB adapter. now with the same settings it won't connect to the ecm using tunerpro. I have it selected to com 4 just like it was before. I have the 730 ads file selected. interface type is max232, and target sample rate set on 10hz. what am I missing here? I need this to work badly so I can finally drive the car. thanks in advance.

I had similiar problems, I went from 6870 TPI ECM to a 165 TPI ECM, and using a two transistor cable I cant link using tunerpro's ALDL feature. No probs at all with WinALDL. I am also using a USB to serial adapter and I have heard that the adapter is the problem. I would love for someone to prove this theory wrong so I can figure this out. Right now Im convinced thats the problem. I need to find another laptop to try that has a DB9 serial. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

If we're talking about 160 baud, then yes, the adapter is the problem (as USB adapters need to be opened at 4800 baud for 160 baud communications - currently TunerPro opens at 2400 baud, which works for serial adapters). This will be fixed in the next release.

However, if you're running a 165 with $6E, you should be using 8192 baud. If running a 7730, you don't have the option of using 160 baud, and theoretically your USB adapter should work fine. However, some of the serial->USB adapters don't like being opened at 8192 directly. if yours is one of these, this may be the issue.
