2732 Prom

I feel stupid for asking this but is there some way to get the chip out of the plastic holder for reading without destroying the entire thing. I am going to use a G2 adapter but still need to retreive the existing code.

Using moderate pressure, sqeeze the sides together to benc them in *slightly*. Then using both thumbs spread the sides apart, and it should pop out. Have a spare or two handy before trying. Some seem to be getting old, and brittle.

Thank you Grumpy. I don't care about the plastic holder breaking but I need the BIN so I have something to work from and don't have to call the recycler to pick up the car.

I also use a fingertip in the inside to push the chip up against the spring arms as I spread the sides.
You can also remove the 2 bars on top to allow the sides to flex more.
What bin?
It might be avail?

If you have the BCC you can try moates.net or the gmecm sites.

Moates.net also has an adapter for like $10 that you can plug your entire memcal into and read the existing BIN using your autoprom or Flash-N-Burn....

No memcal on a 2732 application.

But, if you upgraded to a '165 ECM, you could then use one of those Moates adapters.
